Getting started → License and machine code

The first time you run NEXTGEN Widget Encrypt3 you may see an evaluation window. A paid license is locked to this computer with a machine code.

Where to find the machine code

  • Help → About, then Copy
  • %AppData%\NEXTGEN Widget Encrypt3\MachineCode.txt (same folder as the default vault)
  • The short window that appears if the trial has ended (Copy machine code)

What it is

The machine code identifies this PC. It is not a password. You send it when you buy so the license will only run here.

During the trial

Copy the code from About or from MachineCode.txt. If the evaluation window has a Pay button, that only opens the purchase page. It does not show the machine code. Checkout asks for a machine-code, so please paste the code from About or the text file exactly as it is. iI not done exactly as it is the license code will not work.

After the trial ends

A message appears and closes by itself. Click Copy machine code before it closes. If you miss that, open MachineCode.txt. The file is written every time the program starts, including after expiry. Open the Buy page, paste that code into the required box, and complete payment. You do not change the web address.

Important

The code in About and in MachineCode.txt may include + and =. Leave those characters in. Do not use anything from the Pay link.

Folder

%AppData%\NEXTGEN Widget Encrypt3\

Contains vault.ngw3 and MachineCode.txt unless you moved the vault in Settings.

What the license covers

A paid license is for one computer. It stays valid on that machine for as long as you keep using the software there. It is not a subscription. It does not move to a second PC while the first one is still in use.

Replacement license

If that Windows PC is lost, stolen, or replaced because of hardware failure, you may request one replacement license for a new machine.

  • Ask within 12 months of the original purchase.
  • Send the Stripe receipt (order / payment email or Dashboard receipt) and the machine code from the new PC (Help → About or MachineCode.txt).
  • The old license for the failed PC is retired. The new code is bound to the new machine only.

After 12 months, a new PC needs a new purchase. Reinstalling on the same machine (Windows reset, same hardware) does not use up the replacement; use the same machine code.

What we do not replace for free

A second household PC, a work laptop plus a home PC, or an upgrade you chose after the year is up. Those are additional licenses.
