Product — Glossary

  1. Armor (ASCII armor) — Text form of OpenPGP data, with BEGIN / END lines. Optional comment and Version headers sit under the begin line.
  2. Audit log — Short event list inside the vault (including failed sign-ins).
  3. Bulk import — Import many keys from files, a folder, a ZIP, or a CSV, with an optional dry-run.
  4. Clear-sign — Readable text plus a signature in one signed-message block.
  5. Dry-run — Preview of a bulk import that does not change the store.
  6. Evaluation — Time-limited license. New keys must expire within 30 days.
  7. Fingerprint — Long hex identity of a key. Compare it before Verified.
  8. Group — Label you assign (Financial, Technical). Not part of the OpenPGP packet. Filter is not case-sensitive.
  9. Key ID / Key ID hex — Short and hex identifiers on the grid. Use hex when the name is empty.
  10. Key passphrase — Secret that unlocks one OpenPGP secret key.
  11. Machine code — PC identity on About; used for a per-machine license.
  12. Public key — Encrypt to this key and verify signatures. Cannot decrypt or sign.
  13. Recipient — Public key a message or file is encrypted to.
  14. Recovery copy — Extra recipient on the same ciphertext so you can decrypt too.
  15. Revoked — Key marked unusable for sign/encrypt; grid row red.
  16. Secret (private) key — Decrypt and sign, after the key passphrase.
  17. Sign and encrypt — Signature plus encryption in one output.
  18. Trash — Hidden in the vault until restore or permanent delete; not the same as revoke.
  19. Trust / Verified — You compared the fingerprint. Import is not Verified.
  20. Vault — Encrypted .ngw3 file: keys, logins, settings, log.
  21. Vault login — Password that opens the vault (sign-in and idle lock).
  22. Watch folder — Inbox files encrypted to a key you choose; output folder holds ciphertext.
  23. WKD — Web Key Directory; lookup by email domain.
  24. .asc / .pgp / .gpg — Common OpenPGP file extensions (text armor vs binary).
  25. .ngw3 — This product’s vault file. Not an OpenPGP message.
  26. exe.config — Must sit next to the exe. Required on .NET Framework for this build.
