Getting started — Meet the key store

After you sign in, the main window is the key store. Every key in the vault appears here. Tasks (file, folder, text, compose, import) start from this window.

What you are looking at

  • Title bar — product name, version, and build date
  • Welcome bar — your username, last successful sign-in, and failed sign-in attempts since that login
  • Menu — Keys, File, Folder, Text, Tools / professional items (bulk import, groups, watch folder, lookup, ceremony, backup), Settings, Help
  • Group filter — limit the grid to a group (or All / Ungrouped)
  • Find — search box; Find sits next to the box; Cancel search clears it
  • Grid — one row per key

Grid columns (typical)

Line number, Key ID, Key ID (hex), username, email, algorithm, size, public/private, created, valid until, trust, group, and related status fields.

Colors

  • Revoked — red
  • Expired — purple (not the same as revoked)
  • Other rows use the normal text color

A revoked or expired key must not be used to encrypt or sign. Decrypt with a secret key may still be allowed when the policy permits.

Selection and right-click

Click a row to select it. Right-click for shortcuts, including:

  • Copy the selected public key
  • Set trust (verified)
  • Encrypt or decrypt the clipboard (decrypt asks for that key’s passphrase; the text must be a proper OpenPGP message)

Double-click or use the Keys menu for Properties and QR (full public key).

Empty store

A new account shows no rows. That is normal. Compose a key or import one before you encrypt.

What this window is not

It does not encrypt a file by itself. Select a key, then open File Task, Folder Task, or Text Task, or use Explorer after you enable it in Settings.
